Mom's simple granola

8:00 AM

Ingredients:

2 c. whole wheat flour
6 c. rolled oats
1 c. oat bran
2 tbs chai powder
2 c. dried cranberry
1/2 c water
1 c oil
1 c. honey
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
2 tbs cinnamon

Directions:

Add blended liquids to dry ingredients and with hands mix thoroughly. Spread out on 2 greased cookie sheets. Bake for 1 hour or until dry and golden.

This is an old family recipe that I have fond memories of, I remember my mom making this quite often as I was growing up. I would always help her and she would let me mix the ingredients together with my hands!

I added the chai powder and cranberries to her recipe because I didn't have any coconut or nuts. Some other varieties to add to this recipe that my mom recommended 1 cup wheat germ, 1 cup nuts, 1 cup coconut and in place of the whole wheat flour use 1 cup of soy flour.

But this recipe is a great spring board to add too and take away and make your own, let me know what combinations you come up with!
